Storage Insurance
If you are
using a self-storage facility to
store your items, you should know
that insurance is not automatically
included in your storage costs.
Before you use a storage facility,
as the company whether insurance is
included in the cost of rental. If
not, you should definitely consider
buying self-storage insurance. If
you do not have insurance, you will
incur all costs for any damaged,
destroyed, or lost item. There are
various storage insurance options
open to you.
Ask the storage
facilities that you research what,
if any, kind of insurance coverage
they provide, what they cover, and
their costs. If the insurance the
storage facility provides does not
fit your needs and concerns, you may
want to research outside storage
insurance providers. Call you
homeowners insurance company and ask
them if they provide coverage for
stored items. In many cases, this
may also not be sufficient enough to
protect your goods while in storage.
There are many
outside insurance companies that
provide comprehensive storage
insurance. Most storage insurance
companies provide plans that cover
water damage, fire, burglary,
earthquake, tornado, hurricane,
smoke, hail, other weather
phenomena, building collapse, and
explosions. Make sure to ask what
the different plans the insurance
company has and their costs. You will
want to have a comprehensive list of
what you are storing ready for when
you inquire into the different
storage insurance packages since
some plans exclude certain items.
Your items are valuable to you, so when using a
self-storage facility, make sure you
protect your goods by getting a
storage insurance plan.
