Moving Tip
We know moving is stressful and emotionally draining, even under the best of circumstances. Moving is considered one of the top three most stressful life transitions. Moving is as hard for kids as it is for adults. Moving is going to cost you, regardless of how you choose to do it. After estimating the cost of wear and tear on your vehicle, the cost of renting a moving van, and the cost of gasoline you may find that moving yourself is more expensive than you thought. Packing materials and moving boxes can be a substantial part of your moving costs. In addition to doing all the work yourself, you will also need to figure in broken items and unexpected trips. A solution that many people use to take advantage of the professional mover's packing expertise and yet not spend too much money, is to pack books, clothes and most of the unbreakable items on their own. One thing to remember is that you can deduct the costs associated with packing up and physically moving your stuff from here to there including truck rentals, moving companies, boxes and so on at tax time. To compare movers in your area it is necessary to get free moving quotes from multiple moving companies.

Storage Access
When you use
storage to protect your goods, you
want to be able to access them at
your convenience. Different
self-storage companies have
different policies when it comes to
accessing your belongings. Before
you choose a storage company, ask
them what kind of storage access
they have. Some storage facilities
offer 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365
days a year, access to your
belongings. Some storage companies
allow storage access only during
business hours.
Some allow you to
freely use their carts in order to
move your items to and from
your storage facility. Finding out
what kind of support you get for
accessing your stored goods is
important. You’ll want to ask
whether you have to carry your
belongings to and from the storage
area yourself, or if the storage
facility provides support and what
is costs, if anything.
Different
storage companies will have various
policies about who can have access
to your stored items. Some
facilities will allow any one who
has your key and code to have access to your storage unit.
Others have more stringent policies
and may require you to forewarn them
if you are sending some one else to
access your unit. You may even have
to give written consent, and your
representative may have to show
identification before being allowed
to enter your storage unit.
Access to your storage unit also includes security. As
a rule, reputable storage companies
do not allow employees to access
your storage unit. However, you
should read your contract carefully
to see if employees are allowed into
your unit in the case of an
emergency. When you use a storage
facility to store your belongings,
you want to be able to access them
when it’s convenient for you. Make
sure that the storage company you
choose provides access that fits
your needs.
